RED AND BLUE RODS SUMMARY
Red and Blue Rods are the first Montessori Math material presented to a student. The ten rods are painted in alternating patterns of red and blue. This series of segmented rods of increasing lengths assists the child in visualizing the concept of quantity and numerals from 1 to 10. Students count and manipulate these rods in a 3-period format to refine the concept of one to one correspondence. Visual and auditory senses integrate with movement in a skillful way to add power to this math module.
